Everything you need to know
What age is Northbeam Kids for?
Students aged 7 to 11 (Years 3 to 6, Grades 2 to 5). Every question is read aloud, so students who are still developing as readers can join in fully.
What is the difference between a lesson pack and an Interactive Adventure?
A lesson pack ($5) gives you the full 4-minute film and a printable 60-minute lesson with worksheets at three levels. An Interactive Adventure ($15 per classroom for 12 months) puts the class inside the story: the film pauses for predictions and votes, then students play the story game and 8 Arcade games, and earn a badge and certificate.
Is there a licence for families?
Yes. Every Interactive Adventure has a Family licence for home use at $9 for 12 months. Your personal licence key is emailed within one working day of purchase.
Do students need accounts or devices?
No. Open it on your interactive whiteboard and play as a whole class in two teams, or on tablets and laptops in pairs. There are no logins and no student data is collected.
Does it work if YouTube is blocked at school?
Yes. The films are streamed from our own site, so they play even where YouTube is blocked. An offline edition is also available on TPT and Tes.
Can I try before I buy?
Yes. Every story has a free interactive preview, you can look inside the teacher packs before you buy, and the free Teacher Starter Pack gives you a complete 60-minute lesson to teach this week.
Can our whole school use it?
