The Northbeam Compass
When feelings get big or friendships get tricky, a compass helps you find your way. Learn the four directions and collect all five badges.
Works on a whiteboard, tablet or laptop. Nothing children type or tap in the adventure is saved or sent.
Name it
From Ben's Big Red Feeling. Ben's tower crashes to the floor and a big feeling rushes up like a volcano. Ms Harper does not shout. She helps him find a name for it.
Ease it
Smell the flower, blow out the candle. Ms Harper teaches Ben a breath that makes a big feeling smaller. We practise it when we are calm, so it is ready when we need it.
Then: Pause. Breathe. Choose.
Say it
From Leo's Worry Cloud. Leo told Maya, "I'm fine." He was not. When he finally told Ms Harper in the calm corner, the cloud began to shrink.
Welcome
Notice who is alone. Invite them in. Sometimes nobody is unkind. They simply forget to include someone.
Notice. Support. Tell.
From The Unkind Note. Leo finds a note: "Nobody wants you on their team." Maya saw who left it. She sits with Leo, tells him it is not true, and goes with him to tell Ms Harper.
